Like Lightning

by Meredith C Hartwell

a smile,
a moment frozen,
perfect for its very
imperfect
-ions,
like two seconds
before climax, pulsing
adrenaline to my brain
with the rhythm of your
tongue running laps around
the words we cannot
hear over the applause
of heaven.

then the ringing is over
and we are left soaked to
skin in the darkness
with your hand on my hip,
and my breath on your lips,
we shiver,
don't slow down.
don't stop.
just don't
ever
stop.

Author's Note: Inspired by a certain someone, and Jonathan's "When it is very dark" strobe light. Thank you for accidentally making me write again.
