Take this day for instance

by Ginette T Belle

It was born breathing blue ice into my ears
And I wondered why my eyes bothered awakening at all
Why my body didn't just laugh and roll over
Singing quietly in the sheets

The sun shooting deception through the window
And still I ran for the warm water
And when the smell of apple pie couldn't cure me
I hugged my guitar and let it speak to me for a while

But it's like me. It hasn't anything good to say in the morning.

*laughing* this is cute. I *love* the line, "I hugged my guitar and let it speak to me for a while" ... the ending definitely catches the reader by surprise. nice.

and i meant to say, however... you might want to play with it, if you're bored. :) the first two stanza's offer *so much* and leave me wanting more. it could take on so much more life. but i have no idea what you were thinking when you wrote this.. however, the words are such a promise. know what i mean? i hope you take that the way it's intended...
