Heart on Your Sleeve

by Jacki M Butler

That good old saying

Wearing your heart on your sleeve.

Not in your hat, your shoe, anywhere else

It has to be on your sleeve.

Well I have to say

That is the worst place to hold your heart

It can fall and break so easily.

It can be taken, tortured

Then handed back to you

More tattered than you had left it.

My heart sits on my sleeve.

I don't know how to move it

It hurts

I wish I didn't have to feel.

Author's Note: How can you be so charming to me in one breath, and someone else the next. How can you just break my heart like that?...Justin
