Fever by Amanda ConlogueSpring rises, heats the air
Brings a flush to my cheeks
Increasing fever, pollen coats
The world in a sticky film
My breath labors
Breasts rising, falling
Skin glazed in sweat
Your breath feels
Cool against my skin
Although I know its hot
Drawn deep within your lungs
Incinerated by your bodys fire
Expelled in steam
Despite my dampened skin
I am kindling
Your touch ignites me
As a storm approaches
I can feel the shift
In the air, the oppressive
Weight of humidity
The slant of the light
Elements congeal
As you move inside me
And break free, raining
Down upon us
Im breaking too
Liquid mercury rising too high
To be contained in a glass frame
I spill over, onto you, all I can feel
my heart beating, my breath bellowing
And when both begin to ease
The storms sound and rhythm
Eclipse both, the breeze calm now
As it steals over our bodies
Drying our slick skin
We lie in bed, silent, listening
As pollen washes away
Fever broken
