Everything That I Am Not (to T.A.)

Please know...it's not you that makes me cry
It is everything that I am...and everything that I am not
It's remembering what others have told me
Negative things about myself
I can't help but not like myself
But I do love you
I've never felt more normal in my life...than I do when I am with you.
I have never felt more sane...or more content
You make me smile...You make me love myself just a little more than I'm used to...
Maybe that's what scares me...
Maybe I'm too used to thinking negative things...that the positive scares me so much more...
Sometimes I don't understand it myself...
How could I feel like crying so much...when you make me so happy?
I don't mean to cry when I am with you
Please know...it's not you that makes me cry
It is everything that I am...and everything that I am not... 01/06/2003 Author's Note: This poem is for my ever-loving and ever-caring boyfriend who has not given up on me, despite my very noticable and sometimes irrepressible emotions. He has stood by me through so much and I know that I can be difficult. I love you sweetie!

Even I have thought these things and probably should show this to my guy too....lol maybe then he'd understand a little more. Great piece. I really enjoyed reading it. |
