Dialouge

by Beth K Hannah

"How do I find you
In this maze of mirrors
That reflect every instinct
Every wasted kiss
Every moment I didn't want you?"
He asks me at two in the morning.
At three I reply
"Try being yourself
Or another
Look into the mirror
Where I stand whole
Look for the jagged ends."

We both fall asleep
Looking and puzzling
The sun dips in at six
He gets up to go
I turn over to cry
Neither of us know
What we just had
Or why it broke.

Full of sharp and brittle imagery that perfectly conveys the breakage. Outstanding piece of work, this.
