The Love of Life

by Christopher Shin

My heart burns in my chest,
and I feel the quick beats
as you you stare into my eyes.
I feel cold and warm at the same
time.

Do you know how I feel when you
draw close to me and smile.
All the long winters of my life
melt away like the ice crystals
that captured the failures in my life.

The light in your eyes give me
hope for something new.
As you look away and blush all I can
do is think about how your pale
hand took me from the darkness
that bathed my soul.

So as they lower me into this warm earth
all I can do is say thank you
for a small piece of life.
For all the friendships and souls
I have touched in my life.
All the smiles and memories of life.

Oh Chris, this one made me cry. It seemed filled with so much love and emotion.
