Mr Sado and that smile

by Olivia Weinkein

he says the thought of me makes him thirsty.
that all he can do is drink and drink until
the dryness in his throat subsides and his
head begins swimming.
he says everything that happens after is simply
coincidense. the babbling, the breaking of objects
too weak to accept such force, the anger of
throwing it all away, those pieces of anything he
wasn't able to hold without collapsing their insides.
he says he's fit for drunken nights such as these
when cursing anything and everything becomes
biblical in a sense, and of course, habit-forming.
he says, it's always habit-forming, those scenes
we act out when we're sure that there's nothing
left to lose. "always habit-forming and i'm a sucker
for obsessive-compulsion"
he says and smiles from
the side of his mouth, lighting a cigarette.
and he says the thought of me drives him crazy and
also, drives him to drinking and breaking things
he will never bring himself to fix.
he says i should stay away as well, that for fixing most
things, there Is glue, there is always glue. "but i've
yet to know of anything that would fix you if i were to
break you, so stay away tonight"
he says and smiles from
the side of his mouth, putting his cigarette out.
