Snowblind

by Bruce W Niedt

Winter stands bunting on trees,
iced and frosted, confectionary,
whitened, a dress for naked arms.

Winter unrolls the carpet,
piece by crystalline piece,
a cover, a ruffle, a blinding uniform,
creating illusions of clean,
rounding off corners, edges.

Winter slickens streets,
rink for rubber tires and steel,
circus of skids and circles,
ballet of violent meetings,
that duplicitous lover,
Winter insidious.
