In the Garden

by Meredith C Hartwell

i asked him, "tell me,
tell me again about this
reality
and what does it all mean?"
i said, "please, love,
please.please.please.please.
explain it to me.
how many more of me
are there
out there?"

he said, "that's something
you'll have to answer for yourself.
there are three of me."

so i asked him, "tell me,
do you suppose the other me's
know other you's?
do we exist in twos?
and do you suppose, love,
that somehow you could be my brother?
that some me may just be your mother?
that somewhere we exist as lovers?
or have we been before?
is this reality
always duality?
or can we exist in fours
and sevens?"
i know she's out there
somewhere.

do you believe me?

do you belive me, love?
do you believe, love?
love, do you believe
in me?

"tell me, love,
what is reality
in this carbon-based Creation
we can only pretend to understand.
A trinity-God built us with his Hands
from clay and breath
in His image, without death,
for each other.
and i ask my sometime son-brother-lover,
"is there an Adam for every Eve?
is that really what you believe?"
but tell me, love,

what if Lilith is real?

Abstraction is a great tool to use when it pays off by being not only able to get the point across but to also do it in a flamboyantly thumbing your nose at convention sorta way and I do believe I smell success in this effort :) Interesting and wonderful read
