Two Dreamers (inspired by M.S.) by Melanie A BennettTwo Dreamers thrown together
With entirely different dreams
One dreams of her love with him
And he wants only to succeed
Living his life...focused on his dream
Working so hard every day
No time to mess with her dreams
All work for him...no play
She tries to make him love her
Just as much as she loves him
But as hard as she tries to make him see this
She knows she'll never win
He used to want her love
But realized that wouldn't do
He had to push her further away
To make his dreams come true
She left him that fateful night
With tears welled up in her eyes
He tried to make her see
But nothing would make it right
Two Dreamers thrown together
They weren't meant to be...not yet
Because it was the wrong time
The one dreamer winds up dead
He is so distraught
He blames it on himself
He wishes he never pushed her away
And put their love up on a shelf
He comes to realize exactly
What his dreams actually resolved
It caused so much heartache
It caused her to end it all
He realized how miniscule
His dreams were compared to her life
He truly loved everything about her
If only he could make it right
Two Dreamers thrown together
Unfortunately their dreams too great
That they both realized
Unfortunately...much too late 09/22/2000 Author's Note: This poem is kind of silly. I wrote it a little over two years ago and just recently found it and decided to post it.
