winter words by Olivia Weinkeini am snowless.
am cold and darling,
it doesn't get any better
can always get colder
fingers numb to words
i've written quickly
not giving too much thought
and you would say
"not enough" you would say
broken up sentences are not
good enough for you and i
love you for that
the need to explain becomes
redundant but nevertheless
it gives me room to talk
more say less and mornings
with you were (are)
alwaysthebest.
and i'm sleepy but fluttery
stumbling through metaphoric
meanings in fuzzy slippers
and a warm robe
look at me i'm glowing
and winter never tasted better.
and perhaps if i was in the
habit of writing you, i'd
shove all of this in a letter
i bet when you opened it
steam would seep through
the pages and i only wish
i could be there to see
your expression, to watch
your eyes move with my thoughts..
to be there
(or moreso, to be the paper
held tight beneath your fingers)
and you would say "too many words
is nonsense" and you
would kiss me, finally, at last.
i think thats why i speak/write so much.
i like your language best.
