ice skating.

by Olivia Weinkein

winter is slowly
wrapping her cold fingers around
my skin trying to dig in
right to the heart of me
and if i were to allow myself
to become loose
taken willingly
what then will become of us
you and me
when i begin wearing a chill
that can't be warmed
not even by you
breathing ice into your heated
whispers burning your skin
with frost-
bite
will you recede into the depths
of your sun your summer
your swims in the river
where i can never go near
for fear of what that may do
because you know, i hear
ice skating really doesn't
work for you.

Author's Note: winter always seems to bring change with her...hope this time it's nothing permanent...
