Miscarriage

by Adrian Calhoun

The news became official today,
in the wrong place,
you were a life in beginning stages,
and you were rejected by nature.

Your mother and I wanted you badly,
another son or daughter,
to hold, love, and admire.

The pain and even some anger,
are consuming me in these after hours.
Not so much for myself,
but for your mother.
You are all she has wanted for months now,
endless nights talking about babies and names,
prayers for your conception.
All she is left with now,
is the mournful tears and deep sorrow.

I commit you to Gods care,
and can only dream,
of what you might have been.
To you, my unborn child,
I send all of my love,
and bid farewell.

You know my prayers are always with you two. I couldn't help but shed tears as I read, it just pierces my heart. *HUGS*

To rate this poem would be inappropirate I think. The anguish and sorrow are very evident. I grieve with you. (My wife and I lost our second child to an early spontaneous abortion. It was especially traumatic for my wife.) May God comfort and sustain you both in these days of grief.

You can't measure the love given to a child, any child. This heart-wrenching verse is filled with emotion and carries the sentiment shared universal. Life goes on and lives in poetry. Peace...
