Tom is in a Peck

by Cathlyn Cartier

Tom's looking for a place to hide.
He's trying to lay low,
The only problem facing him is
just where he should go.

Last year he played hide and seek in Farmer Brown's hen house.
Thanks to the old man's eyesight he was mistaken for a grouse.

When spring time came poor Tom was faced with his personal dilemma,
the feed was good, the shelter safe, but he missed his dear sweet Emma.

So off he went as fast as he could do his turkey trot.
It'd been a mighty long winter and his hormones had him hot.

He found his Emma nesting and faster than *bling, bling*
Ole Tom was up and at her doing his wild turkey thing.

As spring turned in to summer, the family grew and grew
and it wasn't long 'til Emma was singin' Tom the blues.

Tom couldn't stand the squawking of all those younguns 'round,
so he snuck out late one evening and headed into town.

So Tom, he went a visitin' his friends both beast and fowl,
and lived a mighty carefree life, at least up 'til now.

Old Farmer Brown has passed away, his nephew owns the farm,
and Tom has heard the rumors that that boy means him some harm!

This winter Tom is in a peck.
He's really in a dither.
He has to find some place to hide,
until some warmer weather.
