(the abacist) {christ}consciousness

by Richard Paez

lotus flower blooming
I (re)gain
(christ)consciousness

one day soon
this cocoon will I shed
(proto-being)stem-cells
will achieve
manifest-destiny

one day soon
this birth canal will I descend
ancestral-line
(amoebae-reptile-primate)
through me will ascend

~

until then, I,
(fetal-mass
all fingers and cranial-spine)

am abacist:
pushing cell-wall envelopes
karmic debts and could-be(ads)
along protein-(protean)-strings
framed
by gene-carved would-be(ams)

~

what you ignore
I will always remember

long before Eve
ever tasted or bore fruit
in the garden
Lilith Adam-took

and the little bits of God
you swallowed hungrily
in your womb now reside
(pushing and kicking)

(ever-growing)

Very thought provoking and surreal. The man/God relationship throughout is quite interesting. I was especially drawn into the last part "and the little bits of God, you swallowed hungrily, in your womb now reside,(pushing and kicking),(ever-growing)...

I like the way this one moves un-inhibited, in and around descriptive deception. I like the first edition just as well. Peace...

You are high above me on the intellectual totem pole, and when I read anything of yours I prepare myself for an intense poem which must be read at least twice. Interesting mix of microbiology, biology, and theology. I could be off, but I perceive this as depicting humans & humanity in their inchoate state.
