Imagination (Adam's Epic)

by Ryan M Evon

He worked on the little blocks
All day. Setting his scene,
Evil characters take place
Wating in patience, frozen,
For the hero of Adam's epic.
   But I interrupt.
"Hi Unkie Ryan" he said
Still holding his hero. "Lookit
What I built!"
A maze of blocks on
Top of each other, seemingly
Scattered about.
   My eyes couldn't see
What his mind did. Explain
it to me kiddo

   "Alright," circling around
Everything, "This is the moat"
Every line traced with his
Little fingers painted what he
Saw into my eyes.
   I saw the tall tower,
Evil guards and the cruel lord.
He painted things he didn't
Even know of. Buttresses along
The outer walls, a courtyard
That had a stage with
Rope over trap doors. Imagination
Took over as I stepped
Inside the castle he built,
   "Isn't it cool?"
   Yeah bud, it's really cool!
"You wanna maybe play with me?"
   Sure, I'll play
"Okay, here's your guy, but you
   have to be someone else."
I didn't understand, then he
Explained to me, I was the hero,
He was playing with.
Oh, well I'll be you then, okay?
"You can't be me!! I'm too small to be
   A hero!"
I laughed, and told him we
Could just pretend.
