(st.i.ll dre.am.ing) ~transparent eyes~ (tissue-paper skin)

by Richard Paez

try to make an effort to
bring fingertips together
find a way to pray
(learn to sing again)
fill up all these spaces
join hands and
reunite forever with the

(left-hand past and right-hand future
recite the words you whispered now
i bring the words you whispered
to the bed on which i laid your body
dreaming)
now

(i bring tomorrow’s tears
i wipe away the dirt
from tissue-paper skin
now i know, now i know, now)
i

try to make an effort to
find a way to focus
forget what i’ve been taught
so i can do it right
the second time
fill up all the spaces that
your passage left behind

if you were to part the blinds
take a peek inside
what a sight would spread before you
what a sight for dreaming eyes
you will find me
(child sightless and hairless)
all tissue-paper skin
(and spreading wings)
you will find me remade
(in my image of you)
perfect and broken
(so perfectly broken)
bruised blinded and babbling
(blue-eyed and burrowing)
reciting now the words you whispered
reciting now your words
(and whispering goodbye to the dream)

~{still dreaming}~

Author's Note: Rough draft, for now... tried to work on it today (10/31/02) but no luck, still needs to ferment for a while.

Ok, here it is, finally. And it only took two weeks! Didn't really change the wording, just needed to change the formatting so that it made more sense to me. Have myself an almost-amoebaean verse here. Cool beans (11/13/02). Images found on Google Images.

I love the way this piece drifts in, out then back again on a whisper, like a re-occuring dream. I'm not sure whether you planned it this way but it works and I would run with it. Peace...

I certanly agree - pretty darn good for a "draft." Very haunting and very powerful.

oh goddess I devoured this. so darkly delicious I want to wear black lipstick and take black and white pictures of my lips and scream something in that elusive prayer...I kept thinking, as I read this, about so many people praying at once...indecipherable noise of desperation.

I agree with David, haunting and powerful.
