I would have waited

by Amy Niggel

If you had asked me to I would have stayed,
you know that don't you,
I would have waited for you,
If I thought you would come for me someday.
but you chose instead
to remain silent,
to just stay where you were,
and leave me hanging.
What did you expect,
that I would wait forever with out any reason to have hope??
hope yeah that is the word of the year isn't it?
well I ran out of that I think,
so where do I stand now?
I never wanted to fall for you,
believe me that was not on the agenda,
but I did all the same,
so look darling,
I couldn't hold on any longer
I couldn't go on grasping at threads,
and watching the tapestry of my life unravel before my very eyes!!
So I go on now,
my heart aching
wishing I knew for certain that this was the right thing,
but I never worried about that before now did I?
good bye darling,
though I would have waited forever if you had asked
I cannot wait any longer in your silence.
