This sums it up today

by Amy Niggel

If you had asked me yesterday,
or the day before,
or tomorrow
then maybe I could have lied to you
maybe I could have searched the treasure store of memmories
stolen from frends over the years,
maybe I could have painted for you a picture,
of how you wanted to see me,
but you asked me
and I told the truth,
so now what do you think?
you are frightened
as well you should be,
you look at me as something dangerous
diseased,
and well maybe I am.
I never asked for this
I never asked for you to ask me.
Rest assured that what you know is only the surface
the pains run deeper than you can imagine
the anger is founded in my very being.
you asked and so I answered in truth
because I was too tired to lie
and save what image of me you had before
I am a child
who never had a childhood
a woman who never found adulthood
I have never quite fit into any one mold,
so you can see me any way you see fit today,
I cannot lie
I don't have the energy
ask me anything
I will let you know
I have nothing worth hiding
not anymore
not today

You've done an excellent job of telling us without telling us. Beautifully done.
