Whispers (Mature)

by Ken Harnisch

And where shall I whisper first?

In the veil of your hair,

Which in its beauty taunts

My adoring lips?

Or shall it be your neck,

Whose slender vein is upturned

To the possibility my

Whispering words

May bring the spark of

Shuddering to the flesh?

May I whisper in your ear,

Taking care my words,

Said in passion, touch the lobes

And incite those low-banked fires

You have kept inside you

As a secret living thing?

Or, may I whisper on your lips,

While fingertips graze softly

Across your cheeks?

Finally, may I whisper against your breast

And hear the sudden rising of a breath

As consequence to your need?

You tell me, darling: where do I whisper first?
