Daydreaming

by Adrian Calhoun

Snow capped mountain peaks,
the reward of hours climbing
rough green tree lined trails.

Crystal clear ice cold flowing waters,
standing thigh deep, fly fishing for trout.
All alone in the busy silence and peace of nature,
miles away from any other human or town.

Skies of powder blue with just a splash of gray,
a sweatshirt and light jacket crisp fall afternoon.
Walking a country lane of dirt,
cool breeze on the face,
listening to the birds sing,
and watching squirrels prepare for hibernation.
A few leaves falling,
some already on the ground, crunch under foot.
Candy for the eyes, admiring deep reds to pale yellows,
trees changing and displaying many different hues.

Far away places, not too far to reach.
When escape from that day to day routine is needed,
open the imagination and the minds eye.
Daydream, and walking, fishing, climbing,
or whatever your idea of a perfect place is,
there you will be.

Ahhhhh, the magic of the minds eye and the beauty of life. Cool piece of writing Adrian. You've captured the essence of nature. Peace...
