Waiting for You

by Beth K Hannah

I stand on this corner
In my mind's eye
Waiting for you
Waiting for you to pass by.
I've learned you number by heart
I've sent you thousands of faux email
And illusions of valentines.
I count the minutes
Months and weeks
Till you go by
Or say my name
I drew your car with my broken pen
It's shade of blue is hard to catch
I gambled on your smile
And lost to the holder of your frown
I walked away from the corner
My feet sore and my watch broken.

I'm starting to get too sleepy to put much of a coherent thought together about how enjoyable this is. The last line seems to do a very intriguing job of ending it, with the painful reminder of the time spent but no way to tell how long. *applause*
