the green and the brown

by Emily G Myers

I can’t see past the youngness in your eyes
the inexperience
how you so calmly glance away
a slowness of movements unmatched
behind the green and the brown
a depth unparalleled
not even attempting to attain
but reaching so far
this love for you is too fast
the green and the brown
a beauty I don’t understand
hehind a smile that makes me sleepy
you hide your lies
the most gorgeous lies I’ve ever seen
I don’t want this to end
the feeling in my stomach right now
I don’t want any more from you
I like things the way they are
the just sitting
and just smiling
pretty glances
from the immature
the green and the brown

Author's Note: I'm not sure where this'll come up on the page... that's weird. Basically this poem was written about I boy I've met at college who is way cute and very sweet. I actually think of him as sort of younger, so this poem is sort of a stretch. He just has the most beautiful eyes. Green and brown, obviously.
