(st.i.ll dre.am.ing) laughter by Richard PaezLaugh With the realization That this is just another Distraction
What are you dear? Hallucination-mirage? Blurred-vision-revelation? An epiphany... That drum-beat pulls me in like a tired fish No more ocean for me just hooks and nylon Just like my father The fisherman caught in his own net
Laugh With the realization That this is just another Insufficient metaphor
Knock-knock Can you hear me now? Id like to be like you Going where the tide goes Free, as free as a mindless creature can be Parting waves like dried and peeling scabs And when the waves come in The tide rolls There ill be Battered senseless A dead man breathing Gasping and thrashing
Where are you dear?
Can you hear me?
Laugh With the realization That this is just another Pitiful attempt To reach The surface To breathe Again 09/27/2002 Author's Note: (i am) still dreaming

Big thanks to Rachelle Howe for pointing out a correction!

Posted by Rommel Cruz on 05/06/03 at 02:55 PM I enjoyed reading this aloud in a charming-insulring manner. I really liked the 4th stanza. A momentary praise that buries the one being praised. Wicked. |
Posted by Rachelle Howe on 12/12/03 at 06:43 PM this absolutely broke me, until this: "The surface
To breath
Again" breathe. darling. with an e. i can't believe no one said anything before now. fix that, and you can have my spine once more. |
