not a love poem, either (semi-poetic excuses for skipping class)

by Meredith C Hartwell

And if I don't prompt you
to go,
will I be graced
by another few moments
of your pleasure
before clocks ticking seconds
reiterate my lacking
reminder?
It's not that I have
been void of your presence
of late
night chats and
tears spilled on shared pillows,
merely that I miss you
when you go.
