Space Between by Meredith C HartwellI am kissbuffer and surrogate lover. Replacement for she-love that may not exist. You search herethere and sideways for one who is Always, but I am not she. She is not me. Is that so bad?
I am breathshared and skinbared stroking through unruly hair Tracing curves of she and he. Shoulders meeting and hearts beating slow. My hands are not my own.
I am strung out and full mouth Refusing truth a voice.
I am hearts broken and torn open. Remembering a time when not even love is real (echoed in your mind) .not.even.love.is.real. with stability based on degrees of separation.
And I am love's end and just a friend. Existing in the space between. 09/25/2002 Author's Note: PotD 3/18/04

Posted by D. Xavier Bari on 01/21/03 at 06:53 AM I think I've read this before, back before the site upgrade. The middle and ending stanzas are especially good. |

Posted by Alex Smyth on 03/18/04 at 02:03 PM Perfectly expressed, the stand in for the real thing. Playing thru all the motions, knowing the scene is just waiting for the real actress to show up and take her place. Lights, camera, understudy leaves stage left....Congratulations on POTD, most excellent poem! |
