So you want me to think?
Forget the bad stuff
for the time being
and think of myself?
I know who I am
you don't
I am a person worth knowing
I would not say I was a good person
and you have to believe me on that one
I am intelliigent
and I am strong
I have been beaten and bruised
many times
and let fear run my life
but I am strong
and I know I have made it through
And I WILL continue to make it
I am a true friend
I am the first one to stand up
you do not hurt my friends
or you will get hurt back!
I am the first to fight for what I believe in
though I rarely succeed in getting what I want
I am an orphaned child of society
who as struggled and succeeded
I will make it and I know that
and though the world may whisper like the devil in my ear
try to undermine what I have
what I have taken
I still hold it
I may not be beautiful
or rich
or even successful
but I am me
and that is the best thing I can think of about myself.
