Now, a year later,
they are planning to build again.

Still, after sunset, the only structures we can see
are two blue columns, laser-straight,

frozen searchlights, reaching up into night,
till the human eye can’t discern their end.

Nothing is solid here – any hand could pass through
these light-sculptures, built in a quest for why,

ghosts of two monoliths, reminding us
how ephemeral we are.
