The Albatross

by Charles M Harrison

The heavens above the seas below
across the waves I fly.
Through the clouds and endless winds
of a storm tossed sky.
On wings outstretched, the height of man
six feet sometimes more.
Through this world high above
I swoop and dive and soar.
Upon the land I nest
at the sight of my birth.
But there are few times in my life
that my feet touch the earth.
From horizon to horizon
blue waters I crisscross.
The sailor of the ocean winds
I am the Albatross.
