Dumptruck

by Jayme L Helmick

Empty
soaring
I dream of you-
Our talks
Your touch
Your warm embrace
Your kiss so sweet
Your eyes so strong
To you, I thought
that I belonged.

Sentimentality is an oozing sore.

Lethargy steals my bones
(I thought I belonged)
I dream
I miss you
I cry
I doodle-
a heart around our names
A name that will never be mine . . .
Clenched teeth
Sweaty palms
The ache of loss
regret

This is gibberish.

I lost you, even when
I
never
had
you.

"I lost you, even when I never had you". Wow, great ending! m
