even the stars are dim tonight

by Gary Hoffmann

even the stars are dim tonight
weary because they remember
listening to sad sad music
and lonely

trailing tears like blood and lightning
thinking of you they weep softly
through the infinite depths of space
and falling

while galaxies don their cowels
mourning for the loss of beauty
dancing in their december dreams
and singing

madness is a lovely mistress
soft and wet you will slide right in
temptation begets temptation
and sorrow

even God masturbates tonight
the angels have sex without Him
ev'ry virgin flees His presence
fearing life

I like the flow of the poem, and yet... it seems to not follow a path? I'm not sure, exactly, but the first 3 stanzas seem detached almost from the last two, even though at first glance they fit.
