Inner Vault

by Lori I Wolfe

Tiptoeing through the darken halls

Trying to be so silent

The silence echoes off the walls

Within this lonely confinement

Searching for the buried truth

ThatÂ’s stored inside the folder

Looking for that lonely youth

And the bitterness when older

The trial begins at first light

Charges from the dark past

Files trying to ignite

Wanting to burn it fast

People watching the outer self

Just waiting for a word

Holding back upon my shelf

Loneliness is what I preferred

A cell holds the secret grain

Deep inside this tomb

A memory full of so much pain

That carries a cloud of gloom

 Sneaking past the locked doors

Coming upon a vault

Fighting within my inner wars

Thrashing back the bitter assault

Hands tremble with inner fear

Turning to the right ... 2 click

Left ... 19 click sound in my ear

The stomach feels so sick

Hesitating fingers grow cold

Slowly moving back to the right

79 click and the vault unfolds

Heart pounds from horrid sight

Hands of ice with claw like grip

Holds the victim down

Cloth fell as there were ripped

Flesh falling onto the ground

Teardrops fell from frighten eyes

Unheard were here screams

Revulsion builds from the lies

Crushing all her childhood dreams
