Explicit Windings

by Gabrielle L Gervais

The carnivores of wings are gnawing at me
Gnashing teeth and silent winds
Weaken me
Wind my pieces up, and wrap me
Around your wrist.
Reminding you of the lightning at night
And the laughter by day.
That I didn't see,
didn't hear.
I've tasted honey before,
and I miss the sweetness of your sugarcoated kisses.
I have this sucking in my gut.
But I want the joy,
want the sadness.
I need it.
Wrapped in this leafy shell,
The rain bounces off
But every drop returns, joined by 100 more.
I stand in this thunderstorm
crying inside-
because I can't breathe,
can't think,
can't feel.
