They Gather

by Leandra K Brossard

Now I lay me down to sleep
Beneath the starry darkness bright..
And wonder what my thoughts will mean
If I voice them in the light..

In the dark of night my dreams
seem not so long or far away,
But when the sunlight dares to gleam,
I see them skitter, off to stay..

There is a moment,
'twixt night and dawn
When all things hang in balance, fair.
The Dreams of all do gather there
before the force of day is bright.

An' if you watch,
They'll dance for you
the reel of lives and loves from all;
The hopes of many, come to call,
before the rise of morning's light.

So if you find yourself, one dream,
amidst this wonder of the eve,
dare not to flee before you're due
else lost your hope shall be
without you...
