Dylan's Big Day

by Rosie J Buhrmester

A day filled with sunshine,
A day full of fun,
A day we'll remember
When Dylan turned one!

Who could've believed
That a year had just passed,
From the day he was born;
Gosh, it went fast!

Grandmas and Grandpas,
Uncles and Aunts,
Cousins and friends
Didn't miss the chance;

To celebrate this day
That only comes once;
We were all there to cheer him,
And make quite a fuss.

Bouquets of balloons
Were tied everywhere;
And children's sweet laughter
Filled the warm summer air.

Presents were opened,
And, oh, there were lots;
But, the best thing of all
Was that huge, great big box!

"Happy Birthday to Dylan",
In chorus was sung
When given your cake,
And a candle numbered one.

From beginning to end
There was so much to do;
Enjoying this day
And wonderful you!

But all days must end,
As this one as well;
It's a day to remember
With stories to tell.

A day filled with memories,
A day full of fun;
On Dylan's big day,
When Dylan turned one!

This made me smile, Turning one is a cause for celebration. You captured that so well in this very special piece- thanks!
