A Tribute To Freedom by Rosie J Buhrmester"God Bless America", across our nation we sing;
"God Bless America", let freedom bells ring.
From ocean to ocean over mountain and vale;
On the wings of an eagle this message sets sail.
We are Americans in a country that's free;
Free to live life how we choose it to be.
But along with our freedom we must always remember
That horrible day, the eleventh of September.
When folks had set out on an ordinary day
To just live their lives the American way.
The went off to their jobs, kissed their loved ones good-bye;
Never knowing their fate, for that day they would die.
These people weren't soldiers, we were not at war;
Just living their lives, that's what freedom is for.
And as this disaster unfolded that day
A bit of our freedom was, too, swept away.
But only for a momemt as the world stood numb
And mourned our great nation and what had been done.
"God bless America and all those who died!",
Cried nations now vowing to stand by our side.
As nations united in a worldwide quest
We could strike out the terrisom and put it to rest.
Some may protest, let us not go to war;
And that is their right, a freedom fought for.
But freedom's not free, it too, has its cost;
As down through our history many lives have been lost.
Our nation began with the great Revolution
When fighting became the only solution
To live in a land where we all have a voice;
Where decisions are made giving "The People" a choice.
When the time was at hand, when they sounded the alarm,
There was no hesitation as they shouted, "To arms!".
But with all the blood shed this one truth rings through,
They gave their lives proudly for me and for you.
And in all the wars fought and in all the wars won,
Your rights were preserved, for our freedom lives on.
Across our great nation our flag proudly flies;
It, too, was created 'mid battlefield cries.
Our strength it displays waving gently and true;
Our symbol of freedom sewn in red, white, and blue.
Its colors unfurled across our great land;
Our Stars and Stripes echo "United We Stand!".
For united are we under God as a nation;
And "In God We Trust", our motto's dedication.
And pledging allegiance with hand over heart
I pray that our freedom ne'er our land will depart.
Our land full of beauty and splendor and grace,
With the strength of its people each challange embrace.
So, be proud, America! Be proud you are free!
Be proud of your past and your future to be.
For when I am gone, and I'm laid to my rest,
I'll know God blessed America and living free was the best!
