time passing by

by Emily G Myers

in a month's time
you'll be the last thing on my mind
I won't have to worry about you anymore
a new boy will have taken your place
and my hand won't be lonely
and my smile won't be lost
in a month's time

in a week
you'll be so near the finish line
I might give your cause hope
a sprint toward the phone when it makes a sound
and my brain will still be scrambled
and my heart will still belong to you
in a week

tomorrow
you'll be the second thought I think
I can't avoid missing your love
a tomorrow that passed me so quickly
and my eyes might be a slightly puffy
and my nose might be a little red
tomorrow

but in a month's time
30 or 31 days
you won't have this power
you won't control my tear ducts
and I'm not planning on loving you anymore
in a month's time
