shortcoming by Deborah S Regan
all the cramped spaces of America,
into which I crawl
without access to the beatific fields of wheat,
just hospital cubicles, metal work tables, and plastic bags
revisiting the Gothic revival furniture,
and the ominous Grandfather clock
records the teaspoon drops of memories,
bitter tea to fill a thousand bags
for a defunct coffee drinker.
but I must enjoy
it is a shortcoming,
Modern times value robotic movement
the buoy bobs above the waves,
the fish under them,
and we are prey to the ocean.
That golden buoy.
