A Second in Time

by Paul Little

A second in time

A second in time
Can pass us by so quickly
And we never stop to notice
What can be won or lost
In that blinking of an eye.

A second in time
That’s how long it took
For me to know that I loved you
And that I would forever
No matter how the seconds passed.

A second in time
Can change the world forever
Sometimes good, other times bad
But that’s how long a decision takes to be made
And mostly we don’t even see it.

A second in time
The mere tick of the clock
That sound we didn’t even hear
Didn’t even care about
Was long enough for it to fall apart.

A second in time
It replay’s in my mind
On an endless loop
The moment I chose to walk away
The instant the regret began.

A second in time
Can stretch into infinity
So welcome to where time stands still
Because pain is often timeless
And I can’t forget what once was.

This is an observation one can only make that has had and recognized that moment in time...it is true...everything can change in a moment...for good or bad. Great insight.
