silent river

by Ginette T Belle

silent rivers of sadness run deep
below paved roads that shimmer with wet rain
underneath the black earth soft and rich
swimming between jagged rocks and smooth stones
it rides slowly, steadily
it rides through the night and into the morning
the blood red sun cannot begin to suck it up
the enchanted moon will not layer it's ripples with silver
forever and ever always deep and potent with longing
