The Crow and the Shadow

by Lori I Wolfe

A crow sits on a dead branch
As the sunset casts shadows
The moon peeks through smoky skies
As silence deafens the earth

A crow sits watching a window
As the candle dances by the opening
The Earth glows with the sky night-light
As a whisper of faith drifts within the wind

A crow swoops down upon the ground
As a shadow slips through the trees
The stars twinkle a silent word
As it reaches out upon a soul

A crow slips through an open crack
As the shadow glides through the door
The Heaven looks down upon the land
As lungs struggle for one last breath

A crow sits waiting at the foot of the bed
As the darkness covers the light
The moon weeps a final tear
As the soul slips out of its cocoon

A crow gives a feather to a friend
As life transforms into a new
The shadow slips back into the dark
As the entity flew away into the moon
