Counting Cliches

by Kristine Briese

I've got one last chance
and there's no two ways about it.
I'm three sheets to the wind,
so I'll follow you to
the four corners of the earth,
a perpetual fifth wheel.
It's six of one, half
a dozen of the other.
If I catch you
I'll be in seventh heaven
eight days a week,
floating away on cloud nine.
