Dying Inside

by Jersey D Gibson

That special place, that special time,
but there was nothing really special about it.
But it was, where I first met you,
and what then became of it.

Against the flow, that's how it goes,
no one ever believing we'd go this long.
The secret meets, the silent foes,
we didn't care that everyone else thought it was wrong.

-You want what I don't have,
you give what I can't take.
So true, it has to be a lie,
so sincere, it has to be fake.-

That part of me, longs for you,
why can't I get you out of my head?
Don't talk to me, don't pester me,
now you've given me more trouble instead.

Don't you see, the guy next to me?
he holds my soul, and breaks my heart.
He lies to me, and cheats on me,
why's he so mad when I say we have to part?

-You want what I don't have,
you give what I can't take.
Love doomed from the beginning to failure,
my heart can't survive another break.-

-You want what I don't have,
you give what I can't take.
Please don't try and use me,
I can't live with another mistake.-

In my dreams, I see you,
and somehow I know that you're not a fraud.
But how can I think you an angel,
when I don't even believe in God?

This is my heart, I give to you,
keep secret in what I confide.
And though I can't be with you,
it just leaves me dying inside.

-You want what I don't have,
you give what I can't take.
Forbidden love, we will have,
and the path that we will make.-
