The Boy Who Didn't Want To Fall In Love by Jersey D GibsonThe little boy
kneeling at his bedside,
listening to his parents argue
saying to himself,
"I don't want to fall in love,
it only gets you hurt."
His parents scream,
curse, swear, yell,
they bicker, and they fight,
and they don't know what
this does to their
golden little child.
Flash a few years later,
that little boy
is halfway grown up,
with his arm around
a pretty girl,
and a smile on his face.
That pretty little girl's
gonna break break his heart,
he's so sweet and kind and caring,
but she wants none of that,
she wants to be used, and abused,
she wants,
nothing to do with love.
Now the tears,
are streaming down his face,
his heart is broken again,
another failed marrage,
2 ex-wives and 2 ex-kids,
who he looks for, but they don't love him,
they don't love him,
they only want his child support and alimony.
Now, the little boy,
he's an old man, his hair is white
and he over weight,
still so oh so alone,
with six grandkids, and parents
who don't remember the man they loved,
and called daddy.
Now the little boy,
he's old and he's grey
and he's on his deathbed,
with the nurses and doctors and tubes,
all shaking thier heads.
That little boy,
he looks at them with sad eyes
and he says
"The only thing,
that I have to tell you
is that,
I wanted nothing to do with love." 07/05/2002 Author's Note: Poem Of The Month! March 2005

| Posted by Marjorie Anne Reagan on 07/04/04 at 06:42 AM This touches my life so powerfully and makes me understand someone else who wants nothing to do with love. Read my last two poems and you may understand. Great work. This pain is so real to me and I needed to read this tonight |
