I no longer see the Morning Star
in the early light of dawn.
I know it still shines somewhere
but for me it's light has gone.
I know it brightens the life
of another favored soul.
But all I have are memories
to cherish as I grow old.
For awhile I knew the star
that shone in my life each morn.
For awhile in my heart each day
new joy was born.
But now the joy has faded
for I have lost the light in me.
When I look at the predawn sky
darkness, darkness is all I see.
Oh beautiful morning star
wherever you may shine.
Know tht you are remembered always
in my heart and mind.
