Dreams

by Charles M Harrison

I took a trip today
to revisit dreams past.
To find life's realities
kicked them in the ass.
What I had thought once
to endeavor to try
Had floated away
like smoke into the sky.
All those dreams
never gotten round to,
All those dreams
I thought once to do.
But new dreams
have taken hold
To renew and replace
those dreams of old.
Dreams of my wife
and my family
Dreams of their lives
together with me.
I no longer think
of dreams of my own,
But dream for my children
these seeds I have sown.
I hope one day
they will not say,
I revisited dreams
of my past today.
