Satellites

by Vikki Owens

Where are we now,
you and me,
orbiting each other
in this house
like
twin moons....

it seems so much lonelier
now,
when you are away
than it did
when I could not
see you for weeks
at a time.
Strange how its all
so relative.

Sadly,
I feel removed from
myself, and accordingly
removed from you...

Tonight when you come
home
I want to touch you
again for the first time
in this house.

Maybe I have just
started taking
your presence for granted.

We are satellites
of each other,
always revolving,
rarely touching.
