Missing My Own Party by Corey DroverWalking in the city
Gazing at the opulence
I can't help but feel taken
by the splendor of it all
Back home they are waiting
for my return
Meanwhile I am claiming
the infinite inspiration
of a slow jaunt in the new
Take it all in my friends
for life only happens once
and so many would rather
spend it in the haze
of intoxication in lieu of
the true whimsy of where you are
I call it the urban playground
for it is where my childhood
dreams of the big city
come to fruition and I am
free to play my games
They are not amused by my
lack of conspicuousness
They are not amused by my
winsome ways
Solitude in the night can be
comforting in these surroundings
and I truly feel at peace
I feel that I can endure
those reckless with my heart
And still they wait while I sit
on a park bench, gazing at the stars 06/27/2002 Posted on 06/27/2002 Copyright © 2024 Corey Drover
