Hypocrisy 8/15

by Corey Drover

As I meandered my way
through the woods in the empire
I came across a Spyder
sitting on the path

I tried to talk to her
but she covered her ears
screaming "this isn't right"

"The things you say are wrong
and nothing can argue that fact.
If you don't change your ways
you are doomed to failure
for I know the ways of the world
and you will face the stigma
of using the wrong words"

"Words must frighten you so"
I said to her
"For I only speak from my heart
and even though it falls within
the boundaries you still deem it
unacceptable."

She pondered this for a second
and then retorted with
"But you are still wrong"

"You cannot say these things,
at least not how you say them.
You must conform to the ways
of the empire if you wish to fit in."

I thought about her argument
for a second
"I don't want to change my words
little Spyder because if I thought
them wrong, I wouldn't have
used them to begin with"

She looked at me strangely
and raised one of her eight arms,
pointing directly at my face
She then spoke again

"But you are still wrong"

I thought about it for a second
and upon further thought
my decision was clear
I stepped on the little Spyder

"My words are my own little Spyder
and it's not up to you if they are
right or wrong"

I continued walking the path,
exactly the way I had before I met the Spyder
